In the beginning…
this is where the story starts.
I was never a reader, never someone who sat and listened to books. But when I joined the debate club at the College of Life Sciences, something inside me started to shift, little by little.
New faces, a new room. I stepped out of my narrow world into somewhere wider, deeper, more alive. And I felt the distance between me and the others: in the way they thought, the way they spoke, how far they could see.
It stopped me in my tracks. And I promised myself: I'll get there. I'll become one of them.
And here I am today, making a film. Not something throwaway, not just a task, but a message that came straight from my heart, passed through my lens, and landed in your eyes.
It started with a book unlike any other. It asked one question, and it became the biggest question of my life: Why?
So many have read that book, but only a few truly felt it. It sells across the world, yet it's only understood with the heart.
It looked simple from the outside, but it shook everything in me: Why am I here? Why is everyone around me moving forward while I stand and watch? Why did I choose this path? Why do I shoot? Why do I write? Why do I dream?
And slowly I learned that the deepest answers are never spoken. They're felt. Not said, but lived.
Ever since I was a child, I loved making films. I used to whisper to that little boy: "One day, you'll make something that changes someone."
And today I tell him: We did it, Hwaij. We made a film, and it reached people. We made them cry, made them laugh, made them feel. And more than anything, we meant every second of it.
Thank you to the Life Sciences debate club, to everyone who believed in me, to everyone who said "you can." Without God's grace, and then your support, I would never have found my answer to this great question.
Every fall taught me something. Every stumble opened a road. Every harsh word became fuel.
We moved ideas, stirred hearts, and turned weakness into strength, and despair into hope.
Little Hwaij, be proud of who you are. You were never just passing through. You always left something beautiful behind.
